Brief Biography of Edward W. Felten

Edward W. Felten is Associate Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, where he has taught for six years. He received his B.S. (with honors) in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1985, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington in 1993.

Dr. Felten has been involved in computing research since 1984. He has published more than forty papers in the research literature, and has won awards for his research including a National Young Investigator award from the National Science Foundation and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.

His primary research specialties within computer science include operating systems, Internet software, and Internet security.

Dr. Felten testified twice as an expert witness for the government in the U.S. v. Microsoft antitrust case.

Dr. Felten was born in Boston, Massachusetts and spent his youth in Madison, Wisconsin. He now lives in Princeton, New Jersey.
